New, larger tires...

I drive a 2000 Wrangler Sport. I believe to replace my stock 30x9xr15's, I can replace them with 31x10.5xr15's without a lift. I am in Tampa, FL. Can anyone suggest a model tire and place to get them mounted in my area? Prices too?

Thanks.

You can fit 31s w/o a lift. In some cases, you may have to adjust your steering stops to avoid rubbing at full-turn, but I did not have to.

For a good all-terrain tire, you can't go wrong w/ the BFG AT KOs, or what I have, the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVOs.

If you're looking for more of an MT tire, I know many who swear by the BFG MTs and the Goodyear MTRs.

I just got a set of 4 BFG AT KO tires at NTB. I was able to dicker a little bit on the price too, I got about $50 off of normal price all together. Mount, spin balance, full road hazard warranty, lifetime balance & rotate, etc. was about $525 or so. I did get 31x10.50 15" too...and I have no lift. No rubbing issues so far, but then again I don't disconnect and try to crawl rocks either. BFG is supposed to have a promotion for 'AAA' type road service but I didn't get any info on it. I will have to call or write them to see what the deal is. It's on the web site though,

Thanks for the info and I was leaning towards a set like that. Who is NTB? The quote I got from a nearby Tire Kingdom was $650 though. Need to whittle that down a tad.

National Tire & Battery, around here most are run by Sears. I think there are some franchises though, the one I went to seemed to be called something like King Tire NTB or something. You wouldn't know it without looking hard though. You might try a Sears Auto Center if you can't find an NTB.

NTB is National Tire and Battery. Although I haven't checked their prices here in Northern Virginia. I am in the same boat. I have 46K on my '03 TJ sport and the original GSA's are getting close to being replaced. I rotate them regularly and I can probably get another 10K out of them but I REALLY want to go to 31X10.50's. I'll get them just in time for winter (woo-hoo!) I've priced the BFG AT KO's at Costco- $120.00 a piece and they include lifetime balancing. I believe that to be a pretty fair price. I'm really looking hard at the Bridgestone AT REVO's. All the reviews I've read on them are very good but I'd like to hear firsthand from another Jeep owner how they really perform.

Ichabod- how do you like the REVO's? How many miles on them and how do they do offroad? The biggest turnoff about them to me is the price locally. $169.00 EACH! OUCH!!

Does that $120 price at Costco include mounting, valve stems, disposal, etc.? I am guessing that is tire only price, right?

Hmm I thought for sure they still owned them. They found me in the computer from long ago and far away, and still use the same system that they used to. I also thought the guy told me if I had any problems that I could use a Sears Auto Center as an alternative if I needed service on my warranty. I'll have to call and double check now that you've said that. I don't want to be stuck somewhere without an NTB and not have other options.

I've got the AT Revo's and they work well on the road ,including rain and snow.

I've had the REVOs for about 5000 miles now and love them. My TJ is my DD and the GSAs were horrible in wet weather. The REVOs are a great improvement there. Offroad they seem pretty good and to me are an improvement to the GSAs, but I don't do anything too extreme and haven't had to go through much mud yet (I try to avoid it as it's a pain to clean up afterwards and just isn't worth the hassle to me unless there's no way around it).

Nope, I just got off the phone with them and I'm out the door with 4 new 31x10.50 15's for $541.56. It works out to $135.39 a piece but that includes tax, mounting, stems, disposal of the "Get Stuck Anywhere's" (actually, I have absolutely no complaints about the original GY GSA's they've treated me very well) and Lifetime balancing!

I think it's a pretty good deal still.

I got my 31x10.50x15 BFG MudTerrain tires from Sams Club at $134 each. I pad an additiona $11 for mount, balance, disposal of old tires and NY tire tax.

Thanks for the input. Again, I keep hearing great things about them but the price... ohhh the price! Maybe there'll be a good sale but I don't think it'll beat the price I can get on the BFG AT KO's. My TJ is my DD too and although I don't care if it's dirty, I'm not about to try anything extreme until it reaches "toy" status (e.g. PAID for). I HAVE been hinting to wifey about a 2" BB though. She's warming up but still has reservations. I said "hey with a 2" lift, I won't even have to change the pittman arm or drop the t'case". She said, "great! what the f*&% is that?" I said "about $300 more! It's all about perspective!! 8^)

I found a great price on them at a local Firestone shop and they ended up being cheaper than I could get the BFG AT KOs. I don't think you can go wrong either way... I've heard good things about both.

I talked her into the 2"BB earlier this year... she was afraid of it being too "redneck", but w/ the 2" lift and 31s, it really puts the tires back into perspective and looks stock unless it's sitting next to an unlifted one w/ 30s or smaller.
