OT, gas prices.

Apparently, the North Sea oil is too high quality to make into petrol, so it gets made into lubricants and other stuff, and petrol is imported. May not be true, but that's what I was told as a lad.

which seems the same sort of thing as gasbuddy. Prices do vary here - the cheapest used to be at the supermarket, but not at the moment. With the current panic over global warming, I can't see the tax being reduced. Obviously if you accept that global warming is all man made, the natural thing would be to tax children or nuke a few countries you don't like rather than try to shave a few extra mpg, but judging by the reaction of my colleagues, apparently this view is not (yet) regarded as "mainstream".

Hi Dave, You really don't think we, no matter how egotistical we, and the delusions of grandeur Bore is, that the humanity could have any bearing on the whether? Like what did the Vikings do to cause Greenland and their population to freeze over a thousand years ago?????? Ancient China have maps of Antarctica, that show the shape of that continent, without snow. And those maps were in Galileo's possession when he set out to prove Columbus only discover a few islands. How do YOU explain the planet Mar's warming, maybe we have the same Sun?????? The gas prices are caused directly by the bleeding hearting liberal whacko limps that force use to use six gallons of petroleum to produce one gallon of alcohol for the new subsidized low mileage 85% ethanol. And wait for the cost in petroleum of the new Hydrogen cars!!!!!! Remember we had cars that would average 35 miles to the gallon, fifties years ago, but then you would have to drive a Rambler:

There's an energy to weight ratio, straight physics, that those who blame the oil companies are just plain ignorant of. God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O mailto: snipped-for-privacy@billhughes.com

how true i think it was nancy pelosi who said as a campaign promise before dems took over congress the dems would lower prices,as some peoples nose grows, with promises, her rear end gets bigger!!..dont trust, democrat. liberal, commie, wackos!!

writesoon!

Pelosi is one of those off the scale Marxist/Stalinist nutjobs. Her idea of lowering prices is putting more middlemen in the supply line and switching everyone over to more expensive and overall polluting "renewable resources" such as corn base ethanol.

Back in the day before PC they use to call it having ones head up their butt.

Coasty

I would have said that, but if Pelosi actually had her head up her ass as far as it seems to be, she would have collapsed into a singularity. Even physicists have yet to figure out how that failed to happen.

Or maybe she is just looking for an answer.

Coasty

a good looking vehicle !

Hi Dave, I do like your dry sense of humor, comes close to my sarcasm. God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O mailto: snipped-for-privacy@billhughes.com

The answer is simple supply and demand, to lower prices we have to increase supply, but she isn't interested in anything that would actually do that.

And no, turning food into fuel (ethanol) won't do it, not only is it an expensive way to make fuel but it also causes the food prices to increase. All playing games with tax credits does is disguise the cost.

Jeff DeWitt

How can oil prices be $100 a barrell due to "supply worries"? There ARE NO supply shortages save the ones created by those who distribute the oil. OPEC just recently cut back production to drive up demand. Why is no one complaining about this? I'm doing my part. I now walk to work and only drive when neccessary. Secondly, we've got to clean house in Washington this November.

Who ya gonna call? Gass busters!

That would be George Bush:

As usual, Mr. Incompetent screws up again.
