2004 Sorento Problem...Help???

I have a 2004 Sorento 2X4 5 Speed with 50k on the motor and it seems to run great except when I start out with a fast acceleration and wind out the RPMs I hear a loud chirp or squeak shortly before I change gears. Again, this only happens at higher RPMs and nothing or no weird sound when just driving normal. Any Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a problem with the dome light not coming on when I open the doors even if the switch is on door and the light works otherwise??? Thoughts on that would be nice too. Thanks for any insight.

Question: Does anyone know the warranty on it since I am the second owner? Is the power train transferable?

Thanks again, Doug

Greetings,

Just an educated guess but is it possible that the chirp you hear at high RPM's is actually the AC compressor disengaging? I really can't think of anything else except to keep an eye on the tranny fluid for any signs (or smells) of burnt fluid.

The dome light seems to be a notorious issue with a question about it posted not too long ago on this newsgroup. Ours stopped working for a few months and then unexpectedly began working again for no apparent reason. I believe it was nothing more than a dirty switch but I honestly couldn't tell you which one. Also check the function of the dimmer switch for the dash lights to turn on and off the dome light - it could be the culprit (or not?).

The dirvetrain warranty is 10 years/100,000 miles; the basic warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles; the rust-through warranty is 5 years/100,000 miles; and the roadside assistance is 5 years. According to the warranty manual from their website the powertrain warranty is not transferrable for new vehicles, but you should check with your local dealer to see if the warranty on your

2004 is or not - they may have changed that provision to make it non-transferrable (or not?). In either case, I'd be a little more cautious now when you wind-up the RPM's because you may be the one to foot the bill!

Cheers - Jonathan
