Sorento dome light

Hello, just wondering if any Sorento owners have experienced a problem with their center dome light not coming on when any of the doors are opened? And if so, do you know what was the fix? I've already checked the obvious, the

3-way switch is pressed for DOOR mode. The center dome lamp does come on when the switch is pressed to ON and also comes on when the dimmer switch on the dash is turned all the way up. Which means the fuse or the lamp itself aren't blown. Currently the rear cargo dome lamp comes on when any of the doors are opened and I believe that's the way the center dome lamp should also operate. Just baffled why one works and not the other. Any ideas?

Greetings,

Funny that you should mention this, but we did have this issue for about a month or two and I tried everything you listed as well. For some unknown reason it started working again, and I believe that it was an issue with some dirt inside the 3-way switch that finally got cleared off after I fooled around with it long enough. It's still working today and we never took it back to the shop to have them look at it. It was either that or the switch in the dash light dimmer was stuck in the Off position and finally worked it's way free.

Since we never took it in, that's about all I can suggest.

Cheers - Jonathan

Does the light come on with alternate doors.

If niether of the 4 doors activate the dome light. Then it will not be your switch.

I have a Sedona with a "lazy" switch, which I must sometimes turn to full on, then can turn back to door setting.

I get the impression that the Kia electrical relay switches are not all that high a quality. But I, for one, DO suspect that it is a switch problem.

Hope this helps.

I also had this problem. It only happened intermittently and affected both center and rear dome lights. It *seemed* to happen in conditions of high humidity but not all humid days would trigger it.

I had my dealer look at it and they lubricated and cleaned the door switch but could not really find anything obviously wrong.
