My 91 200tdi loses power at 2500-3000 rpm ,really bad towing. Has any one an idea whether it is a turbo fault or any thing else.

Stick a T-piece on the feed from the turbo to the fuel pump and a bit of long tubing into the cab with a pressure gauge on it, you should be seeing about 0.7-0.8 bar boost pressure under load. Also check that the pipe from the turbo to fuel pump is airtight, a leak in ours caused significant power loss.
