90 panhard rod mount

Aug 04, 2008 1 Replies

Hiya all,

We've a '93 Defender 90 200TDi

Had a cracking time at Frickley yesterday but called the day short when the alternator stopped charging, well, no worries, it had had a good few baths while we were there, hopefully just a fuse.

But as we were leaving the lad said "the steerings gone a bit funny" No sh*t! we've managed to tear the panhard rod mount off the front axle! Now we weren't going *that* serious, in fact quite an easy time. Just how weak are these mounts and is there a tougher one available or is it a case of weld the original back on and beef it up with a bit more metal.

Any opinions welcome (except the ones telling me what a dumpling I am)

Thanx

m

It must have been weak or extremely rusty, they don't often break off. Simple enough fix though, just have a new one fabricated from a bit of steel plate, grind off what's left of the old one, weld on. About 40 mins work for me.
