'98 D90 wiring problem

Nov 09, 2003 3 Replies

OK, I'm being lazy. The last few days I've been lying on my back chipping rust and today I got to paint the rear cross member with POR15 (yippee!). If someone has experienced this problem and can point me in the right direction, it woulkd save me poking around with the multi-tester!

When I turn on an indicator and brake at the same time, the warning light for the fog lights on the dash board comes on. The "clicks" of the indicator repeater (?) also speed up. Clearly there is a short in the wiring somewhere. But where? Anyone got any clues? The last thing I want at the moment is one of those elusive electrical problems!

Whenever this sort of thing happens, the first thing I check for is the earthing of the rear light units. You see plenty of cars on the road where the brake lights flash with the indicators, and usually its an earth fault.

Thanks guys. That should save me getting an eye full of dirt!
