Blimey

looking around the military surplus websites to see what's on offer that I can make into a 4x4 minibus, I found this:

Holy shit, wonder if I can fit an Orlikon on me RRC?

BTW, the Deltic went past today, Jesus H Christ on a bike, it's (they actually, as one front & rear) are louder than me!

it has a EWB or something similar type brand name on it & it's dark red & dark cream in colour, towing/pushing loads of cement wagons etc.

Yes very nice, but I reckon it would not stand up to a scammel explorer or any mobile crane come to that.

In the barrel??

That's based on a bloody quarry truck Volvo effort. Looks feckin' ace though!

Saviem 4x4 minibusses . Only problem is their prices are off the wall, the same sort of stuff is available in France for a fraction of the price

would probably do some similar stuff much cheaper, or point you in the right direction. Ideal for popping into Caerfyrddin for a few groceries. Steve the grease

255HP - it's a bit under-powered.

I suppose 8 RPM makes up for it (and I don't mean revs...)

It happens occasionally, here in Lincolnshire, but I get more than enough funny looks with the Lightweight in supermarket carparks, and it takes up less space on the ground than any of the Mercs and Beemers.

There's a concrete platform (about a foot or so high) outside my local supermarket that used to have a bronze sculpture on top of it before some lowlife stole it. It's right beside the entrance, and my Series will park on top of it quite happily, but it gets some *really* funny looks when you park there. So far nobody has told me to move along and Mr Plod has left me alone.

Given you said it looked like a Deltic, I'd be guessing on a Class 37 (since both 37s and Deltics have "noses"[1])?

[1] They also have interchangeable bogies, but let's not go there! ;-)

37s are a nice thing too, lovely big fat diseasel noise. although I thought there were more 47s around than 37s, these days - however, I've not had the ickle book of train numbers for ages, so I could be wrong.

that's a nice site, though this bit

and some of the photos on the scrap sidings of older locos are a bit sad
