Boardroom

Scott,

As you are possibly aware there is going to be a Directors Meeting tomorrow in the board room. We will need a working PC, with access to the internet and hooked up to a large screen. Can you please sort this out - if you CAN'T then please let me know why.

Perhaps because he didn't receive the email because you posted to the wrong place, perhaps it would have been better to be less aggressive, and ask if he could possibly meet your requirements. Then when you didn't get a reply you might wonder why!!

Fat chance! You've sacked the IT specialist, the ISP's bill hasn't been paid for over 6 months and you stuffed the only large screen in a fit of rage last week.

Do your own dirty work.

Sounds like my manager. Not what he says, but how he says it, is almost designed to rub people up the wrong way. Needs some training, in how to talk to staff, and setting up a basic PC, i'net and screen.

Dear Neill,

Ok.

I'll just drop everything else I'm doing then, shall I? Fine. I'll just spend the next day or so rescheduling everything so that your request that you only just worked out you needed can be delivered on time by yours truly.

A little warning would have been nice.

So as not to incommode the other poor sods who work here, I propose that we use *your* PC for the presentation.

Before subjecting it to the gaze of the Directors, can you please make sure that your browser cache and history are completely erased. We don't want a repeat of the infamous 'popup' incident two years ago, do we? We're still all puzzling at who 'shazza69' is that popped up in your IM client is, and one of the Directors still suffers palpitations after some of the interesting images that peppered your screen.

I'm not sure if we'll have a large enough screen, though. I'll scout around for a projector instead, though finding any bit of kit onsite that you haven't punched, kicked or thrown out the window at some point will be an interesting challenge.

All of this could have been easily avoided, though, if you'd approved the budget proposal I put in 6 months ago for a permanent PC/projector/network point setup in the board room covered by our scheduled maintenance program. It would have already paid for itself by not screwing up my appointments diary for the next two days, leading to lost productivity by the other poor sods who work here, not to mention the extra workload on my assistant who will now have to field all support calls while I fix the entertainments.

Next time, is it too much to ask for more than 24 hours notice?

Thanks,

Scott. :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Caveat: The above is not true for those with limited humour capacity.

Amusing that a misspost has quadrupled the posts in the group! The reason I was short in the mail is because everything I asked for is supposed to be there, but whenever we have meetings none of it works typically :)

Land Rover content - I will be driving to the meeting in my LR :)

Not at all surprised if that is how you typically ask. It wasn't even for me but it got a strong "f*ck you" response.

Maybe something good will come if you take on board the comments made. Unlike your employees we don't have anything to lose by saying how it is.

I would hazard a guess you work in the public sector and would like first of all a meeting to decide who will attend a meeting to discuss this requirement and set up a focus group and produce a strategy paper. That will recommend a new team is required to be recruited followed by several weeks of off-site training. And a visit to Australia (preferably to coincide with a test match) or the West Indies (nice over there this time of year) to see how they do things over there and learn the lessons

- we must learn the lessons. Then sick leave all round to recover from the stress.

Now what was it you wanted?

Hahaha...

Glad to see somebody here has a sense of humour ;)

Hope the meeting went well.
