Is there a stuck door switch ?

Steve

Sounds like it could be a freelander, unless D3 has roll down window in tailgate.

Looking from the outside of the rear of the car, does the top of the glass go all the way up into the top rubber seal?

freelander petrol w reg- will check the rubber, if it is that what can i do?

The rear screen drops down by a couple of inches when you open the rear door.

When you close the door, it is lifted a couple of inches to seal it again.

It appears that the switch that tells the window and the alarm that the door is fully closed, has stopped working. Hence the window stays down and the alarm thinks the door is open.

Since the alarm think the door is open, you get the horn souded when you lock the car, it the alarm telling you that it is not set, you will probably find that the car is actually locked though.
