Check Engine Light - 1998 Discovery 300 TDi

The "Check Engine" light on my 1998 Discovery 300 TDi is flickering on. It goes off completely when I turn to the right. Any ideas on what it might be? I'd like to have a clue before I take it to the mechanic.
