Classic motor oil Halfords ?

Looking in Halfrauds today ( son after something !!! ) and saw a can of Hal... own brand Classic Motor Oil has anybody experience of it and is it any good ? I know early Series people have pet sources but this one struck me as odd seeing as they seem to selling more and more toys and unrelated junk.

I use it all the time on my cars, it's the old style green stuff with a seal swell agent built in too.

It's a good quality oil, I use either it or Castrol Classic 20W50 in my own engines (Pre-serpentine V8 and Stag 3.0 V8). If anything, it holds it's viscosity better at higher temps than the Castrol stuff, which has a tendency to thin out at really high temps. Don't confuse it with Duckhams, just because it's green - duckhams is a high detergent oil, halfrauds classic isn't. Personally, I find duckhams froths excessively in V8's, causing issues with the hydraulic lifters so I neither use or reccomend it. Badger. B.H.Engineering, Rover V8 engine specialists.

works well in the 2¼ petrol engines as well.

and it comes in a proper tin can which you can later cut up to make shims.

Hehe, I wasn't going to say that in case anyone called me a skinflint! Badger.

And I've seen plenty of it welded (well, sort of) to chassis. And they've had an MOT, don't know how.

Silicone sealant holds it on better (and still passes an MOT) :-)

You're right there, probably a lot stronger than some of the welding I've seen.
