Converting 90 pickup to, erm non pickupy thing!

Hi All,

Just got my first real Land Rover (had a Range Rover years ago but I'm told they don't count) and I need a few pointers. I bought it from a

4x4 auction (I know, but I was desperate) and apart from the usual stuff (about £800 so I am told) it looks like it will be OK. The only niggle, it is a pickup with an aluminium canopy and I really would like to convert it to a standard 90 with windows in the back. Now this seems quite easy looking at it, as long as a Haynes manual is not involved I should be OK.

Can you nice people give me any guidance on this? Please consider that I do not know my way round an engine (I know I won't have to touch it) but I am quite capable of learning to bolt things in the right places.

My questions.

1) Anybody out there who does this for a living? Web addresses? 2) Likely costs/materials. 3) Does it all come apart/go back together as easily as it looks? 4) Anyone who knows their stuff in the Shropshire/Herefordshire area and wants to earn some beer money/an accolyte would be good as I would appreciate some hand holding. 5) Is it worth just forgetting the traditional 90 style and going all out for a modern five door/2 cab job? This sounds funky but a lot of work.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help a Landie newbie!

Regards

Ryan
