EKA verification

Thanks. As it turns out, the first dealer that I asked said that to find the EKA number, they would have to "annoy the car" (i.e. poke about in the electronics) which did not sound attractive;

the second dealer said they could get the EKA number by telephoning Landrover;

however, I'm glad I didn't put them to the trouble, because then I managed to contact a previous owner of the car, who told me that EKA had been disabled on the car!

I hadn't realized that this was possible.

To prove it (to myself) I ordered a spare key (blade only) for seven pounds 50 (one has to produce the registration document), and this key unlocks and starts the car fine all by itself.

I'm not sure how "super-locking" fits into all this and haven't (yet) tried to find out. Any ideas?

The normal method of "disabling" it is to glue the transponder out of a key to the sensor in the steering column, so it's more an invalidate than a disable.

There are lots of interesting options controlled by the BECM one of which is EKA enable/disable. This is from the Rovacom people's site for the P38:

What on earth does the option box "UK Police - Police/Normal" near the bottom of the screen do?? As I typed the above line it occurred to me it's set if plod use the vehicle it changes some settings??? I wonder exactly what it does.

Probably there's a connector somewhere to plug a lightbar into.
