[FS] Discovery

Wife-related pressures mean I'm going to have to sell my beloved Disco to make room for the new baby (see other post). So, with a tear in my eye, here goes:

1992 200Tdi, 166,000 miles, FSH. 5 door, 7 seats. 2 sunroofs, roof bars, electric windows, brand new Sony CD stereo. BF Goodrich All Terrains (VGC, newish) with 2 spares.

Lovingly maintained & no expense spared on mechanicals. Very good condition interior with all nice original bits. Gearbox, steering box, complete OEM bushes and all 4 wheel bearings replaced within last year - so all the bits which could have caused problems have already been sorted!

Toys include:

- Old Man Emu shocks & springs all round with 2" lift

- Safari Snorkel with fully waterproofed air hoses throughout

- Fully raised gearbox & axle breathers

- Scorpion Racing rocksliding, jackable sills

- Scorpion Racing jackable steering guard with recovery points

- Southdown front axle guard

- Southdown rear diff guard

- Hi Lift brand jack, securely rear mounted

- Various bits of recovery gear - strops, etc

- Full size roof rack available separately

- Fitted CB radio

Despite all the goodies, the Disco has been well looked after mainly as a road car (we've relied on it!) It would suit expedition use, or a fantastic weekend toy for somebody who also needs a great road car.

MOT to June 04, tax to Feb 04. I'm looking for £3850. Call me on 07970

062008 for more details or email for photos.

Would turn heads on the school run and ensure nobody boxes it in at Safeway...

I think this is a very fair price David. I hope it goes to a good home - and please suggest to the buyer that they join the Discovery Owners Club - in time, it may join Piglet in the roll of honours :-)

You haven't said what colour it is David.

It's Foxfire Metallic Red. There is a fairly lousy picture of it here:

I forgot to mention, I'll also throw in a Disklok worth £100.

I've done the sensible thing and set up a Web page for it.

Thought I should mention that the counter doesn't work.

Nice looking motor though - it's just the sort of thing I'm eventually hoping to do with mine (modify it, not sell it!).

Good luck - if someone out there wants one it should make its money.

Thanks, counter removed. The Frontpage ones never work, do they?

Do ANY Frontpage extensions actually work?

If you want the information it's easier to download the W3C logs into something like FastStats Analyser. That way you get the numbers and a reverse DNS on who looked.

Or try 'Analog'. Can be run on server or client. If on server gives real time analysis, graphs stats etc., like this:

We have something similar, but far less readable, on our Cobalt boxes. As we don't get quite as many hits as Google it's still manageable to download the figures, but I tell the MD of our sister co. to use the online version because it doesn't involve teaching him how to use software!

After a few hours with the hose pipe I've taken some more photos and added them to the site. Hmph, maybe I should ask for more!

Wayne,

I think that, if David had taken the picture from further away, you'd be able to see that he's just had some cowboys build him a new garden wall, and that he's attaching a magnetic grab to the roof to aid in helicopter recovery!!!

David, only jesting!!, very clean looking car. (Is that a VERY large paint chip on the passenger wheel arch?) Where are you based?

Can anyone in the group give me a guestimate of the annual running cost of a toy like this? I'm thinking more of servicing, tyres, etc. rather than fuel (e.g. do all the guards mean that servicing takes longer? i.e. costs more?). Also what about insurance? I take it you can insure against off-road mishaps? I would be using it as a run-around and I'd use it as an off-road toy. I'm frightened to scratch the wife's (i.e. I pay & she drives) 02 Serengetti (SP?), but I'd like to join the local club.

Foxy :-)~

Yes, it's where the ally has corroded a bit and the paint has come loose. I have some paint & lacquer that would sort it out, but it's not something I've felt a burning desire to rectify. Like all Discos of this age, it would benefit from some plastic wheel arch trims, but I'm not vain :)

I'm in Bagshot, in Surrey.

Not in my experience. For the last 18,000 miles or so, I've serviced it myself, partly from a conviction that I can do a much better, more conscientious job than a lot of garages. (Before that it has a full service history). It also means it's had plenty of things done (eg axle oil replacements) which wouldn't have been part of the service schedule. I wouldn't do a cambelt change though. But when I had the bushes done, it was no more expensive with the guards. The front axle guard, which is the only one which would really get in the way, only takes a few minutes to remove from its mounting brackets anyway.

The tyres last forever and these ones should be good for at least another

20-30,000 miles.

Most of the time, if you're green laning, you're on a public byway anyway. IIRC my insurer covers me 3rd party for off road events but not fully comp.

Feel free to pop by and see if it whets your appetite!

looks nice. Lucky it's a diesel, if it were a V8 I'd be tempted, which would be bad for my bank balance...

Funny. For an Irishman he speaks appallingly bad English. Not quite as bad as the other scammer though, that one was barely comprehensible. You'd think that if they were going to go to the effort of forging banker's drafts, they would at least bother to write a comprehensible email.
