Goodrich AT tyres ? Trac edge ?

Long time since I've been looking for tyres. BF AT's and Trac edge mix at present. I know AT's were discontinued some time ago, replaced by Trac Edge. Now I have an idea that Trac Edge were dropped some time ago ? KO's replaced them ? Are KO's reasonable in comparison and would they run happily with AT/ Trac Edge mix ?

98 110 CSW. 235 85 16 If possible can Trac Edge still be gotten ?

Ta !

I won't comment on the mix - no experience. A rough clarification of the history as I understand it:

Trac Edge (an excellent compromise tyre) was discontinued some time ago and the nearest equivalent is the Commercial Traction. I'm using these at the moment but have yet to try it on anything serious. The shoulder detail has changed substantially - and it could go either way as to whether this is an improvement or not. Does anyone have any experience that they could share?

I don't believe that the Trac Edge was ever considered as an AT replacement, as the AT never really died. The Trac Edge disappeared first.

The AT seems to have been superseded by the AT KO. It doesn't look much different.

For the record the MT seems to have been superseded by the MT KM. Again visually very similar.

You see the odd trac edge for sale on here or the magazine forums. Generally either part worn or a single unused one.

Bronco sell their own version of the trac edge which looks pretty similar to me.

I have trac edges on my landy and theyve been great! Still loads of tread left on them and theyve been on a landy for over 4 years and must have done a fair few miles!

Trac Edge was very different to AT's and not a replacement. There was a thread on this a while back and a google of the archive may find it. AIUI Michelin rationalised the product line when they took over BFG and the nearest to Trac Edge now come under their brand name. You may still find some if you ask around the tyre suppliers. 235 x 85 r16 was a popular size.

I've got two 7.50 Trac Edge to sell, part worn, probably 50%. I'll measure them tonight. Located in kent, anyone interested?

Tom , have you got this size fitted?

If so how do they look compared next to a 900x16 bar grip if you get my drift.

Yep, i've got 235 85 16's on my landy. Theyre 2 or 3 inches smaller in diameter than the 101's wheels. Too small for a 101 i reckon if that's what youre considering. I've ruled them out for mine and am looking for bigger. Youre welcome to come measure up sometime if you like. I have a spare tyre and wheel which i have to go pick up from my mates house. I'll find a 101 and hold it up against it for photos :)
