In my previous Disco (300TDI) the drivers sun screen hinged down to reveal a label on the inside giving all the heights dependant on what was sticking up - very sensible and readable where it was.
BUT - my TD5 has a similar label on the outside of the sun screen in such a place and angle that there's no way I can focus on it when needed BUT it does have an illuminated mirror where the label was - is this progress ?

Don't rely on it when going under barriers, I've got a 110 with a roofrack and you'd be amazed at what passes for two metres high !!
Not just a TD5, my 300 TDi ES has it on the front side as it has an illuminated mirror on the other. Its a B nuisance if you wear varifocal glasses.

That depends - do you expect the height of your vehicle to vary more than your face?
The blurb on our visor says our disco is 1.96m. I'm amazed at how many car parks I drive around that have a max height of 1.95. One of these days we're going to get caught out...
