Tried to post, nothing showed up!
You gave it nine minutes before reposting according to my record. Twice is certainly once too many when one has nothing to say.
Huw
its not moderated, but if it were, yours are the sort of messages that would be blocked.
Sam.
Sorry, but the original post is still invisible to me. One of those interweb things that no one can explain I guess.....................
See Testing Again thread. This is the issue we are trying to resolve for ntl customers.

I can assure you that they all show on my server which is based in Germany.

and mine!
Could you "forward as attachment" one of my missing posts to snipped-for-privacy@ntlworld.com so that I may examine the headers and forward on to NTL's newsgroup team and identify why only intermittent posts are showing on ntl server.
Many thanks.
Steve.
I dumped Ntl for exactly this reason. really spoilt my surfing pleasure. I ended up going to a more expensive but far more proffesional outfit (Zen)
Prior to that I subscribed to news.individual.net for a small fee. They work well so far but I shouldn't have had too if Ntl had pulled out their fingers after over 6 months of complaining and promises of it'll be fixed next month with the upgrade.

I am on NTL and there is something a bit odd about posting. Sometimes my first post vanishes into thin air. At the second try it works. Also some of the threads are missing or incomplete.
Les
Same here Les, when I phoned up the NTL helpdesk I was put through to a nice gentleman in India who asked me "what a Newsgroup was?"
I explained, he went away and after ten minutes he assured me that there was nothing wrong with newsgroups as he could see the NTL homepage!!!! I explained again and after thirty minutes of him explaining again and again that the NTL homepage was fine I told him Newsgroups were not.
NTL are severely annoying me.
Andy
P.S. This is a short saga, earlier this year it took me six months to pay my accounts as they kept trying to take it from someone else's account. In the end they are refunding me ten pounds per month after they threatened to damage my credit reference.
so Andrew Renshaw was, like...
I know some guys who did some customer service work for ntl a while ago (before they moved the operation to India, presumably), and nothing in this thread surprises me. What does surprise me is that ntl have got such a big name. I can't find anyone with a good word to say about them - on the inside or outside.
NTLs news farm is part of its "Messaging Directorate" which was a team they were trying to resource a few months ago - dunno if they ever got anyone for the job.
The actual news farm is run by Highwinds Media who specialise in News Service outsourcing - I've never been particularly impressed by them in the several dealings I've had with them - highly not recommended.

That's easy to diagnose. NTL are a bunch of completely useless wankers who don't give a flying f*ck about running a half decent nntp service and caused far too much grief in terms of management of the uk.* hierarchy. They are akin to the stuff you step in on the street, but it's easier to clear dog shit than it is to get NTL to accept there's a problem of their causing. Dump the turds.
Professional Envy showing there Martyn?
:@)

Mother is right, NTL are beyond s**te. One of the hardest things I ever tried to do was actually LEAVE NTL, emails weren't answered, automated phone lines went dead, promised callbacks weren't called back. I had to cancell my DD in the end, that got the bastards talking to me. I will never use any of their products ever again, the company deserves to collapse and take all of the incompetant wankers it employs with them.
I always try to keep tight boundaries around 'professional' and 'RL(TM)' - and as a consequence could never make such comments 'professionally'. My experiences (non-professional) were to do with the very painful formation of uk.rec.gps - during which the focus became very clearly toward NTL 'policy' and almost completely screwed the long established rfd process for uk.* formations. Mind, the proponent didn't exactly help his cause, but that was to be expected.
Professionally I try to have nothing to do with them :-)
