I thought the rolls was a single turbo the size of a minor dustbin?

could be wrong though.

dunno about the 101, but the 109" FC started out with a 2¼ petrol or diesel...

Vertically or horizontally ;)

A 101 with a jet engine, you will probably find a Hammerhead, Reverse Cuban Eight and an Immelman will be quite achievable by then :)

Landing might be tricky. A pork pie and pint of guiness will probably ensure Martyn hits the spot. Put them on the same table though, it'll get messy otherwise.

It depends on the Year, I think. The engine started life in 1950 as

5.0 v8, which rolls purloined from america - the Buick engine, I think. The original Rolls in the S2/Cloud II was 6.3l, at about 7.5:1, they then rasied the compression ratio in the S3/Cloud III, and upped the capacity to 6.75 in 1970

The engine started life in 1950 as 5.0 v8, which rolls purloined from america - the Buick engine, I think. The original engine in the S2/Cloud II in 1959 was 6230cc, at about 8:1

They then rasied the compression ratio in the S3/Cloud III in 1962, and changed the carbs for the next size up. 2" bore SU's

In 1961 they upped the capacity to 6.75 for the Shadow, and it's stayed at that capacity since.

Although Turbos were fitted later, I'm not familiar with the engine past this point.

I've just been ferreting. It would appear they used a single Garret at first, with a Solex 4-barrel carb, or twin Garrets with an Intercooler. The Carb disappeared in 1986 when they started to use Bosch Fuel Injection.

The Silver Seraph had a BMW V12 5379cc, the Arnage had the BMW V8

4398cc.

The Red Label, Arnage R and Arnage T had the 6750cc V8 with Twin Garret T3's. In other words, only the "standard" Rolls Seraph had the BMW engine.

Martyn has said in the past that he had grumble up to 90, so i know it doesnt happen at 88mph (unless Martyn just hasnt told us about it..). A 101 has a bit more bulk and mass than a delorean so should have to go faster :)

Who wants to do this to a 101? :)

89.2 - by the GPS

There's a very strong smell which develops at around 80, though...

Martyn

And it wasnt coming from your trousers? :)

I got mine up to 60, at which point the engine cover was levitating a couple of inches higher than usual. I got scared at this point and slowed down. Im wondering that if i fix my engine cover down properly, then at 60+ the whole 101 will start to lift up and i'll eventually get airborne..

I think a Rolls Royce Pegasus or Olympus would be better, should fit in the back of a 101 and I reckon that that your 130mph coudl be quite possible.

I've had 75 out of mine - downhill, with the wind behind me. Frankly, the noise from the front prop was the worrying thing, it was louder than the engine
