Just bought my 4th Disco, a 2003 TD5 ES Auto with 34k miles on the clock. Very pleased with it. However compared with my previous 1999 TD5 ES Auto, I find the engine to be very rattley when its cold at about 2,000+ rpm. The rattle is so bad that out of sympathy for the engine you have to back off. As soon as the engine is at normal operating temperature the rattle is gone and its just as smooth and powerful as the 1999 TD5.
Anyone else experience this? Have there been any significant changes to the engine between 1999 and 2003?
