Sort of, but not quite. An ARB loocker is an air locker - which does totally 'lock' upon turning on the air to it. Therefore an air locker needs an additional source - like a compressor, which is turned on when you need it. A Detroit Locker it always there and works automagically when it detects spin (Oh how Tony Blair could have done with a Detroit Locker). You do not need to turn it 'on' or 'off'.
The downside is that on any slippery ground you can feel an over-steer as the locker is acting the same as if you had an ARB and had it engaged (not a fault, as it's doing what it should). I looked into this a lot recently before getting the Detroit. I would ideally have liked an ARB with autosensing - but this is too away from the 'get in and play' feel that doesn't involve fecking computer chips which I like about my Landies :-)
