Vectra Dashboard Lights

Vectra 2.0 DTI 16V R reg First the heater control lights went out, then the instrument panel lights. Anyone know what might cause this? Does anyone know how to get to the instrument panel light(s), where are the screws?

You have to remove the heater blowers (i dunno how they are called in englisch but you have four of them in your car, 2 in the middle) You can pull those out, they are clipped into it. Use a fine tool (fine nife for example) to push the clips inwards and pull the blowers. When removed those, you will see screws. I have a vectra too, also have that problem with heaten control light. Sometimes, they are loose, other times they have to be replaced. Heater contol panel is also clipped, two iron clips on top. Remove as much as u can from the dash, so you can reach everything easy, otherwise you might break something. When removing the instrument panel (with speedometer and controllight..), be sure that your steering wheel is at lowest position (if it is adjustable), and don't turn on the ignition when removed, otherwise you can take the car to an opel-dealer to reset the airbagfault...

not sure but I think it might be the bulbs blowing that causes it

lights = bulbs cause : wear => blowing, sometimes they loosen up.... This happens all the time

Do new cars use LEDs? I would have thought that would be the best course of action.

I dunno, I've replaced some by leds. But light emitted by leds does not spread as much as from a normal Bulb, therefore ordinary bulbs are still used (I think) . The ones in the heatercontrols I've replaced by leds (RED), works ok but there is a little adjustment to do to get them fitting. I've put blue leds in Tacometer and TID (Triple info display). A little dissapointed by the effect, the leds are not bright enough, although I use ultrabright leds.

I guess with another internal design, bright white leds could work perfectly also, but again, I don't know if they are used yet.
