OT: Whatever happened to white dog poo?

Yup, actually three (2 boys one girl) with a few more on the way - our bitch (due Saturday) is making a bed under my computer worktop as I type!

Mine still produce white poo after we have given them fresh bones to gnaw on.

I asked a mate and he says most likely diet but:

"White dog turds, I think they are due to diet mostly in my dogs, anyway. The breed thing you refer to was probably the fact that Dalmations excrete most of their excess protein as uric acid (insoluble white crystals), rather than Urea, (which is soluble)"

Which might explain the turd turning white with time (and precipitation)

Do you guys just talk s*it here? It depends what you feed 'em. If you can afford a landrover you can probably afford a better class of dogfood.

...and that fits with my understanding of leather tanning, where white dog s*it was prized. Eeooowwww. ;-)
