I'm wearing mine as we speak.

When I was a kid we all believed white dog poo came from poodles. I haven't seen a poodle in ages.

That can't be it though as there were no poodles out in the middle of nowhere in Scotland where I used to live, must be changes in dog food I suppose. I can remember a conversation a little while ago about the increase in the lifespan of dogs and cats, apparently down to much better food being available for them these days. Perhaps that food killed off the humble chalky snake?

Dogs not fed on bonemeal anymore perhaps ?

Two reasosn, you tend to get white poo when dogs are fed on a RMB (Raw Meaty Bones) and a lot of dogs are a biscuit / kibble diet, also it only turns white after 2-3 days and all dog owners are encouraged to pick up, you don't see many left around.

(and please let's not start a debate about owner's who don't clean up after their dogs, I know it happens, all too often and just gives the rest of us a bad name - a bit like some 4x4 owners.....)

Possibly but ISTR the poo turning white and chalky after a few days. When I was a kid I noticed these things, as well as playing with dead seals on the beach and gathering animal skulls to decorate huts I made in the forest..

If only I'd made notes at the time I could discuss this important issue with some solid data ;-)

Well it's almost the right colour so that you won't be able to see if it rolls in it. :-)

In my local paper there's some footpaths that have apparently been rendered almost unusable by dog poo, but not having seen those paths myself it's possible that someone's got a bee in their bonnet and too much time on their hands that they fill by writing to papers!

Well it's good to know that I'm not alone in pondering this important issue.

I have white dogs, but they don't produce white poo! Mine in the back of the 110!

Good question. I remember seeing it all the time when I was younger, but rarely now.

My best guess:

White dogshit happens when the dog eats a lot of bones. Since the F&M epidemic, butchers have been very reluctant to give out animal bones. It might even be illegal, not sure about that.

Ergo, hardly any white dogshit.
