Yep, it can do. There will be a button marked TA (traffic announcement) to enable this feature - you may have to enable RDS with another button first.

The most important thing to know is how to kill the TA once you have heard it - usually by pressing the preset button you were listing to before. Those buggers at local radio love the idea of a huge mobile audience, and are less keen to switch you off than they were to grab your attention in the first place. The range of stations you can receive can be huge - driving in the Midlands (UK) you can get four or five stations all giving their version of the situation. Returning home on Thursday, I was still receiving Radio Berkshire when I was on the Welsh side of the Severn Bridge.

The TA will come on at a preset volume level, so you can turn the volume right down to zero if you want P&Q, and the TA will cut in at an audible level anyway.

RDS is the system what transmits the stations name, to allow the radio to show it in the system. it is also used for traffic announcements and similar stuff.

Actually stations get fined every time they fail to press the switch that returns you to the channel you were listening to before the TA.
