Pressure washers

Whilst looking for a rather long Telescopic Lance for my pressure washer I noticed this firm had some rather cheap petrol powered washers for sale. Take it with you to the field and wash the mud off your Landy before you take it home.

scroll down a bit. I have no connection with the firm other than being rather pleased with their excellent attitude and their service.

I used to do that, the biggest problem was the water supply, you usually have to take it all with you and pressure washers can be really fussy about where they are in relation to the water supply, not having much drawing capability for the cheap end of the market.

I used to have a large water butt in the back of the landy, but once in the field I couldn't get it out as it was heavy due to the water so had to run the hose from the back of the landy. This meant leaving a door or window open so I had to be careful what I did with the water spray. At first I couldn't get a proper attachment from the base of the water butt to the pressure washer so had to put the pressure washer suction hose (which was extra, most don't come with one) in the top of the butt so that meant having the pressure washer itself in the back of the landy too.. Got around that one but shortly afterwards the damned pressure washer broke anyway so I went back to using various non-local garages.

One of these...

it's going to be the longest 'cause it isn't that much dearer. (1.8 m to 7.3 m) but then it's so long you need the belt with it to hold it steady, and you might as well get the gutter cleaner too ..........

I've got a Karcher long swan-neck lance (well about 3ft, plus the handle), and although it probably gets more use than everything else combined, it's a bit of a handful. There's a considerable turning force when you fire it up, caused by the jet, and you have to hang on fairly tight, as it otherwise puts a lot of strain on the coupler for the same reason. It's nearly thrown me off the roof of the house on a couple of occasions (and it's a long way down!). It is good for getting under vehicles though, but it doesn't have a "gentle" setting, and I've removed paint in the past through a momentary lapse in attention.

I don't understand why someone doesn't make one with a decently strong threaded fitting of some sort, rather than the placcy bayonets they all seem to have. On my Karcher, the screws holding the handle together have loosened over time which is a pain. Occasionally it doesn't latch and the fitting shoots off the end. It's amusing, unless you happen to be up on the roof, or kneeling next to a manhole, drain-jetting...

Regards,

Simonm.
