The Range Rover Book of Words is quite clear that the prop shafts are both fitted with their sliding joint to the front.
Why does it matter?
Every Range Rover and Land Rover I've owned (bar one) has had at least one prop shaft fitted the wrong way round. I hadn't spotted it on the present one till the UJ at the sliding end of the front prop started making interesting noises, and shed a mixture of brown dust from three journals and shiny sparkly bits from the fourth. No wonder, I suppose, since it was "sealed for life".
