Question for beamendsltd

G'day buddy.

i was perusing your website and found precisely what i was looking for, a silencer for a 6 cylinder 109 series 3, part number 562737. the only prob is that i live in Aus. do you do international posting? if so, what would the price be for just the muffler/silencer. there is only one place here i know of that sells them but they are out of them and they will be 4 weeks, and they want about $140 aus for it. the silencer wouldn't be to big to go airmail would it?

look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers.

Sam.

I hope Sam doesn't mind me using his request as an example, but...

the silencer weighs 6.5Kg with packaging, and an airmail taking 3/5 days would be...............£114.50!!!!!

Which does not include gold plating.

prolly better to get one made in stainless using standard silencer

Surface Mail would be *a lot* less but take around 12 weeks. Is that using Royal Mail Airmail or an air freight service?

there are more reasonable quotes:

say it measures l:45cm, w:30cm, h:15cm ; £65.33 DHL 1-4 working days worldwide.

Still a bunch for a silencer though!

Hmmm, just dont add up does it. AU$268 + tariff at 5% $13 = $281 Plus GST at 10% on $281 = $28 So all up you pay AU$309.

have to say I am stunned I work for Dozy Hopeless or Lost and when I wanted to ship a parcel I was quoted rather more - so much for employee loyalty Derek

Perhaps because you are an employee they will actually deliver the parcel and charge accordingly. Just taking it away (which seems to be their normal practice with our parcels) is cheaper....

Thanks Richard. upon looking at your price for postage, i went down to the local muffler joint to see what he could offer me. for $165 (about 80 pounds i suppose) he fitted a new universal muffler and made up a little tail-pipe for it (i have an exhaust that exits on the side just behind the passenger door). thanks for the reply Richard, and i'll know in future.

one interesting prob thats come up since getting the new exhaust. it runs better at load, but it now backfires when decellerating. i am fairly certain that this is a dodgy exhaust manifold gasket (this wasn't touched when muffler was replaced though). i'm gonna replace that and see what happens.

Cheers.

I had that arrangement on my 6-cylinder (why-oh-why did I sell it!) - sounds fantastic.

Mine was always a pig to get the timing exactly right on, but when it was it flew (got pulled at 85mph (in overdrive!) - the copper was more interested in what engine I had - "And besides, no one would beleieve me back at the nick")
