Cool off Nige. I know this will be small recompense, but here in South

But you do have the option to shoot back; my friends wife did just that and the police response was " are you OK" "good off you go then"; now thats what I call using common sense.

Maybe, but the satisfaction of the level of response can make up for it to some extent. I dont advocate outright social breakdown; however a response to fit the crime is what is needed here and when someone infringes your human rights they should forgo any of their own !!
