Recomendations for ex mod auction

An article in the Sunday Times was telling how the MOD sell stuff too cheaply in an attempt to make a few quid. One example was a Land Rover that sold for £1500 I think, that they said would have got £5500 at a normal dealers. No mention of where such bargains can be picked up I'm afraid, so not much help really.

Hmmm
I have been told that the MOD auctions can be a good deal but you have to be vvvvvv carefull as some of their stuff is absolute crap ..... maintained by
17 y/o aprentice squaddies .... they aparently let em loose on a few that they keep for the purpose ....then flog em when they have wrecked em in the learning process. My source (an ex Red Cap) swears the best are the ones with middling mileage that are not full of dents ..... these are probably ex officers transport or police ones and havent been far off road .... but like everything in life you gets wot you pays for .... so dont expect a minter for scrapper money .... oh and the shiny ones that apear in the ex MOD ads in LRO are bulled up for the pics ..... they will all be covered in a 1/2 inch think layer of best NATO paint ..... probably alternate green and desert camo colours judging by the recent conflicts we have been involved in ...... happy hunting

Hi
I think ex MOD auctions for Landrovers are a thing of the past
British car auctions did have the contract so it may be worth checking their website but I think they all go to Witham Specialist vehicles now (on the same system as the old leafers went to MVS) so you cn buy on tender from them cheaper otherwise its a retail system (see what you want and they give you a price)
I may be wrong - happened once - 1985 I think it was (yeah right............................................)

is a nice site with links to loads of dealers, and lots of private ads. I like to look on it to decide what other impractical vehicles i want to own in the future :)
