Replacing the fuel pump gasket (Series III)...

Aug 19, 2003 0 Replies

First job at fixing my collander like engine on my Series III diesel was to replace the fuel pump gasket. So here's a really potentially stupid question. I replaced the gasket as it was one of the many places clearly leaking oil. Indeed - when I took the fuel pump off - the blank stuff flowed freely. So my question is this? Why is there oil where the diesel goes?! Is this normal - or whats likely to have broken where?

Many thanks,

M.
