ROT :- Flush handles

You could use a latch like the spare wheel door has. Or if you only want a handle i think maplins have a fair range designed for speaker boxes (the ones that are like plastic strands that push flat into the ends) and the like which might do you?. you could always recess it slightly into the floor too

the top of my step is unscrewable and you can reach the level plugs through it already! :) Its not as fancy as yours, but it is all sound/heatproofed!

Have a look at these:

Anywhere supplying woodworkers will have a nice selection of brassware that would do the job nicely (and look classy into the bargain). Flush handles are used a lot in cabinetmaking.

Nah, I've gone much bigger this time to make more heat resistance and to make the floor level... well there are now two levels but al least it's not going to be wonkey

It was the gust through the last one and the heat that has prompted this version, built more in wood and about to get thermal insulation installed too. Got some piano hinges to help reduce draft as well.

Hmmm. Arranged suitably, this could be a great muck-spreading device for driving past your bank/ISP/mobile phone call centre to express your opinion of their customer service.

Interesting project, to fit out a Land Rover entirely with mahogany and brass fittings, all French polished.

i just thought that you could re-use the recessed drip hook thingy from the ambi roof as floor handles...
