RR V8 and Kalimex

May 31, 2004 2 Replies

Has anyone any experience of using Kalimex K-seal or Sealup in RR V8 4.2 about 116000 miles on it, can't see any leaks but resovoir low warning light comes around every 100 miles, toddle about driving, goes off again as engine warms up. Thinking of using K-seal, or will this do more harm than good? New to this and hearing tales of cracked blocks etc :(

Thanks, Neil

Sounds more like head gasket starting to fail I have had this problem several times on 3.9 When the heads were removed they were bowed by .009 inches! After reskim and 20k more they leaked again, fitted composite gaskets now done another 25 k without adding more than 1 pt of water There can be problems with blocks cracking at rear end if you`ve still got the shim steel gaskets fitted I would look there first. Try looking for corrosion on the spark plugs first this is a clear sign of water getting into the cylinders. Also misfires on startup can be an early indicator Hope this is of some help

Very helpful thanks a lot, I'll check as far as I can. I have also been told to let the header tank find its own level, providing it just drops slightly below normal and stays there. Nothing in the water or oil, no other symptoms, starts fine no misfires. Sounds wonderful :-) No observable difference tween Petrol and Gas.
