Sticking windows

Am having more and more trouble winding them up and down on my 1989 TD 90, sometimes having to wind them down half an inch or so before winding them up again

Someone has suggested squirting some washing up liquid on the felt side channels

Any suggestions/advice ?

See how loose they are in the guide channels, on my 110 the doors rotted so much that the channels started moving and the glass would sometimes slip out of them and jam. When that happened, winding it down would sometimes reaseat them but eventually it got to the point that if I wound the window down too far I'd have to fiddle with the glass for ages to get it back into the guides.

Its only gonna be a temp fix.

Id strip ip down and sort it out propper.

If you take the door card off, you can get to the channels well easy and see whats going on.

Probably rotted... You can try to bend them back into some sort of shape. New ones are not that much if i remember correctly, but it does mean taking the glass and regulator off completely.

Not a solution, but if it needs lubrication or freeing up I discovered some stuff called Inox - I think it's a marked improvement on CRC or WD40 in every way and supposed to be harmless for any material it's sprayed on. It is made in Australia, but it's likely there are equivalents if it's not available elsewhere.

Spray the channels with Back to Black or some other silicone based interior polish. It's very slippery, won't rot the rubber bits, and smells nice as well!

mine jam when they come out of their channel slightly. Which happens because i am missing one bit of trim.

Hmm....

Might be in a ditch in rushden somewhere!

quite possibly! ;)

quite copeable without - I just need to be on a straight/flat bit of road or stopped to close the window up the last inch as it takes 2 hands, one to hold it straight and one to wind.
