talk about fuel panic...

filled the landy up and noticed petrol leaking out!

turned out to be the cork gasket at the top of the tank where the pipe goes in - smeared some red hermetite type stuff on it and refitted, it might be OK now. Will need to keep an eye on it.

Mine does that too (cept it spills diesel not petrol). I dont think that the pumps at the garage cut off until the fuel gets to somewhere in the filler pipe - by which time its past the level of the top of the tank.

When i fill the landy all the way up I always make sure that i do it when i'm a good distance from home so that the drive home gets the level of the fuel down slightly!

I used to lift the seat up on my series when i filled it up, so i could see when the fuel started to leak from the sender gasket and stop filling.

That reminds me.. Percy still has a full tank and he's not going anywhere until he gets a re-chassis... His last trip out was to the Petrol station near on 12 months ago :0(
