V8 Disco starting problems

We have a 97 V8 Discovery, this morning went out to work, no joy, it wouldnot start, spins over nicely but no sign of petrol gauge dropping!I called the RAC this evening, mechanic looks at it and dives into the vanfor a new coil, as the spark is "too weak to blow your hat off". He slavesin a new coil and the fault is exactly the same. Spark is barely visible, hehad a poke around coil with his multimeter and declared that there was 12vat the coil, he replaced the HT lead to distributor and fault was the same.At this point he gave up and suggested that it go to the LR dealer. He hasarranged for it to be transported tomorrow morning to LR dealer nearest. Idread to think what it will cost, he suggested that the ECU may be faulty.Can anyone advise what is likely to be wrong and the approximate costs ofputting it right?many thanksVernon

Hi,

I have had problems with my Disco's (98 V8 3.9i) spider, the car dropped me in Botswana and I had to jury rig the ignition and fuel pump to get home.

I asked my local LR dealer to bridge the spider but his staff fitted a new one, when I complained I was not charged for the new spider.

However I still want to deactivate the spider. Could you please give me the pin numbers which must be shorted out and if you know, what function each pin controls.
