Well, it seems there's a new environmental problem hitting the coastsof Dorset, according to my local Dorset County Council's freenewspaper. A clip in Private Eye bought it to my attention, and I'vejust checked the paper itself as I thought they had to be making itup. They're not, it's genuinely in the paper.The article on page 14 of the Winter 2007 issue of "Your Dorset"states that the innocent passtime of throwing pebbles into the seacontributes to coastal erosion and recommends that when throwingpebbles into the sea, you instead throw them towards the land. Toencourage responsible pebble-throwing they are going to createflagged-off areas and make T-shirts for registered throwers....No mention was made of the rise in sea levels caused by peskyunregistered bumpkins filling our seas with stones, I will write to myMP to make sure this risk is properly assessed.Now I need to apply for my pebble-throwing license, hopefully theyhave a good stock of bio-degradeable pebbles that I can use.My council tax bill is looking more like a bargain every day!

We went to Dorset last summer and I'm afraid this is true, for I lay down on the beach towel to read the Road Traffic act, when I got up HALF the beach had disappeared, It's no lie... tossers the lot of them....;-)Lee D
