My vipers are starting to stop on the window at low speeds (intermittent) and jitter at low speeds, is the motor going or something. they work fine at higher speeds. Thanks

sounds like the self-park going flaky. if it works correctly on 1 and 2 but not on the intermittent speeds, that's indicative.

if so, it's new motor time I'm afraid.

Do you mean the vipers stop in the wrong place when in intermittent mode or that the stop at low speed intermittently?

Jitter indicates to much friction between the glass and the blade.

How old are the blades? Do you use automatic car washes particulary one with wax/polish treatment option (even if you don't choose that)? Do you use any wax or polish in the water when you manually wash the car?

Clean the blades with vinegar and if there is any chance of there being wax/polish on the glass it's time to get a large tin of elbow grease and remove it from the glass. I've got rain-x on my windscreen and it is the best clearing windscreen I have ever had on a car. No jitter, squeaks and best of all no smearing. Get the two pack kit, and really use the cleaner as instructed before applying the rain-x itself. It takes a while and is hard work but worth it. I'm not one for believing marketing puff but I'm very pleased with the results. It does wear off but it's a couple of year since the initial application and I've only put one second apllication on.

Unless you want to try disassembling the motor to repair the wiper switch contacts that control the motion. On

there is a technical discussion on how to do this. A fellow totally dismantled the wiper motor to determine how the switches worked. They could be broken or it could be as simple as grease on the contacts. I've yet to do mine.

the word is that the 300 type wiper motors don't come apart. Or, I suppose, since pretty much anything will come apart, the relevant aspect is they don't go back together. Not that I've looked, mind.

I've got rain-x on my windscreen and it is the

Brilliant stuff. Not used the two-pack variant but have used the single application - yellow bottle IIRC. It's especially effective on non-wiped windows. The airflow is now sufficient to keep the rear screen on my SAAB clear. Why don't the makers fit rear screen wipers to saloons :-(

I've looked Austin, and it certainly won't come apart without taking an angle grinder to it I suspect. As it's only half an hours work and £105 quid from Beamends for a new motor, which comes complete on the backplate, I just changed mine and binned the old one. TonyB

like I say - everything will come apart. the trick is getting it back together again, and working once you have, and moreover reliable. 's no good if it has to be removed and faffed with once a fortnight.

I fixed the one I had it was the brush inside the plate on the motor. woow Also noticed a leak in ps hose, fixed. Some oil hoses a saturated but i dont know if it leaking from the rubber or not.
