Not to mention that they're consistently rated as the most reliable cars made year after year.
I would have much preferred that my car decision was a no brainer. The tranny issue gave me pause. Nonetheless, at the end of the day I chose the ES330 over the competition, all things considered.
On the upside, you can now buy an ES330 for near invoice in many markets. My guess is that the tranny issue has something to do with that.
True, my 2002 ES300 was around 33k, today the equivalent ES330 can be had for closer to 31k... :-(
I have a Lexus and its never a status symbol in my mind. No Japanese car is a status symbol. It's nice, its reliable, but unfortunately it's no Mercedes in terms of a status symbol. My wife gets pissed at me when I call our brand new ES330 a Camry... Because it is a Camry.. Hell, we paid only $4k more for this than the top of the line Camry we were looking at (we wanted the GPS). I will probably buy Lexus cars as long as I live, because of the quality, but I never really consider them status symbol.
I got the car today, hesitation is gone, BUT I know that it'll be back within a month.
6 months back the dealer have reseted my old ECU as a solution for the hesitation problem, the car acted very good for around a month or less, then the hesitation started to appear again, that's why I feel that it'll be back (although this time Lexus have replaced the ECU with an upgraded one).One more TSB they did for me that is the "mileage since refueling" resetting before refueling problem, they replaced the combination meter, but it didn't solve anything after 5 minutes of receiving the car it resetted!! I called the dealer he said you have to refuel it and then check, I did and waiting for the result.
