Recently the check engine light went on in my 1996 Lexus ES300; this happened as I was driving it home from the auto repair shop where they replaced my valve cover gasket. I took it back to the shop and they tell me that the code that they are getting signifies "insufficient vacuum to the EGR". They replaced the EGR valve and tried several other fixes; but once the computer resets the engine check light comes back on. They are out of ideas and I am out of patience.
As luck would have it, this is happening in the month that I need to have the car inspected. The car runs fine; but I cannot get it inspected with the check engine light on.
Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you, Brian
