Hi, I have a 1993 GS300 with a faulty trunk mounted nakamichi 12 disk CD changer. Can replace it with a pioneer Changer from the same car model?

My interest is to know whether the indoor control unit will operate the pioneer or it has to be a nakamichi? 6 or 12 disks does not matter for me, i can live with a working 6 disk changer rather than having a faulty 12 disk changer.
