Can anyone tell me if the 6 cylinder engine in a 1995 ES 300 is an "interference" type where a broken timing belt will ruin the engine? Please respond to e-mail address. Thanks. John snipped-for-privacy@charter.net

Non interference, but change it when due, anyway. There are cases of belts going for tens of thousands of miles beyond the scheduled 60,000 interval, but the inconvenience of a broken belt is not worth it. Sometimes it messes up the water pump.
