Hi. my wife has a 99 Lexus ES 300. The car's idle is around 1200 rpm's which is way above the normal 750 rpm. Does anyone know what would cause this problem. I do have knowledge of automotive technology. Thanks for your help.

first check would be on all parts and hoses correctly attached and all sensors connected. is it reaching correct temperature is next check (faulty thermostat). possible faulty coolant temp sender to the ecu .
