Lexus 2000 ES300 Turn Signal Bulb Replacement?

OK, I can't figure out how to get to the front turn signal bulb. Please help. It would have cost Lexus 5 cents to include this in the owners manual.

True, but it'll also cost Lexus dealership about $50 in lost revenue. :-)

Easy. Grab the front corner or front edge of the turn-signal assembly, right where it meets the headlight assembly, and pull. Hard. No screws, no clamps, just a little muscle and confidence.

I went through this with my ES300 on a trial-and-error basis untill I pulled hard enough to release it. I heartily agree with your comment about its absence from the owner' manual. It is equally absent from the two-volume shop manual as well.

After removing the nonworking bulb, it looked good. I could see no break in the filiament. Checking it with a meter showed continuity (good). So I put it back in the socket, and (you guessed it) the bulb then worked ok. Apparently, some contact corrosion was the problem, not the bulb, and simply removing and reinserting it cleaned the contacts.

Good luck.

Well Nelson, There is good news and bad news concerning your solution. Good news: The light housing popped out with much pulling. The bulb didn't need replacement. Like yours the contacks just need to be cleaned. Bod news: Be very carefull not to break top tab connector next to hearlight housing. After much tugging, the housing came out, but the tab at the top broke. Fortunately, the housing holds without this tab. There must be a better way to remove the sousing. Looks like it should be moved toward the headlight.

Anyway it's fixed.. Thanks

Yes, as you note, once the front is pulled away from the car, the assembly slides foward slightly and is then free. Glad you got it working.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to take all the light bulbs in the car and remove and re-install them to prevent this surprisingly common problem. That would be better than getting a ticket for driving with a nonworking front or rear light.
