Haha, that's a reasonable guess. The funny thing is that I've never seen a grossly obese Lexus driver. I think those folks pile into GM makes.

More like a faulty buckle issue. This is not extremely uncommon. Other makes have had the some problem in the past. My 330i does not buckle easily, either. You need to fool with the buckle way too much before it locks. I suspect that they made the tolerances a little too close for their own good.
It may be a different buckle is used in Europe or that the European safety police just don't give a damn.
