Sounds like you will have a problem taking it to the shop if it won't start. How will you do that? Look inside the engine compartment - out front under the hoody thingy - and make sure it is not a Mercedes. Lexi are supposed to be reliable and not leave you stranded.
On a 16 year old car, you will have to start with the basics. The basics are that an engine needs 3 things to run: air, fuel, and a means of initiating combustion, all at the appropriate time.
Start by checking the air filter to make sure it is not clogged. Take a look at the MAF sensor if equipped with one and make sure the hot wire is not all gummed up. Check for spark Check the idle air control valve to make sure it is not all gummed up. If it is gummed up, clean with aerosol carb cleaner.
