I admitted it was my mistake....I didn't think of looking for an ashtray in a demo car because I would never light up in someone elses' vehicle........ Maybe you'll let me contact you for stock market advice.....from the tone of your reply, you've NEVER made a mistake........

Well.....they are incompetent in designing the interior creature features of the RX-350....the vehicle is hosed up.

And you never thought of putting it onto your list of requirements as you shopped for a car?

Yer an asshole.

I have been driving for MANY years and never saw a car without an ashtray & lighter.....Therefore, they didn't top my list of "must-haves".......

PLEASE DO YOUR PART.....Today is National Mental Health Day.......You can do your part by replying to a post from at least one unstable person....... Well, my job's done!

My 2001 Nissan doesnt have one... it had a regular accessory plug where the cig lighter would have gone. I'm a part time smoker too (weekends), but since I've always got a lighter on me when I go pub crawling, it seems unnecessary to have one in the car.

I do understand this aspect of car design trends. Now a lot of states ban smoking in restaurants and other public places where they didn't used to.

Even though I disagree with the states ban smoking in restaurants and other public places, I am NOT arguing that point......my vehicle is NOT public property.......We are rapidly approaching George Orwells' Big Brother.......

That is the crux of your problem. You didn't THINK. Oops.

You may have been DRIVING for many years--but when was the last time you bought a car?

Ashtrays/lighters have been optional equipment for 10-15 years now.

Clearly, it's been awhile since you paid attention to the new car market. And you ASS-U-MEd that everything is just like it was when you last bought a new car in 1965.

Yep...and another example on the RX-350 of politically correct, Orwellien nanny state, is the unattractive, annoying airbag warning labels in 2 languages affixed to the visor. No problem...just peel them off? Nooooooo.....they are permanently imbedded in the fabric.

That's news to me. It wasn't an option on my 2004 ES.

They have been on every Lexus I owned, going back to 1989.....

Maybe you should look into Infiniti.

When "Elmo P. Shagnasty" wrote this, I just let it pass because I could tell from his previous posts that he was not playing with a full deck..........

Understood, I was just responding to "I have been driving for MANY years and never saw a car without an ashtray & lighter"... My nine year old car had neither. My point with the public bans was only pointing out the symptom of "times-a-changing".

The RX has an optional ashtray you can buy.. $100 is nothing compared to the overall cost of the vehicle, just pick one up and be done with it, problem solved. I don't think they were even an option for my current 9 year old ride.

On my 99 RX-300 they peeled right off with little effort.

I tried to take the stickers off my first Lexus and made a mess of it......I never tried again.........
