Advice wanted: Professional Leather Seat Repair

Evening all,

Can anyone recommend a professional company who would be able to repair a small area of damage in a leather car seat? The damage is a hole, less than a centimetre in diameter, on the black leather of my Mondeo 2.2 TDCi Ghia X. It has been present since I purchased the car, and is bloody annoying! It's at the top of one of the rear seats, and has been (probably) caused by careless loading of an item in the boot.

I know that there are various mobile dent repair specialists, like DentMaster, Dent Devils, ChipsAway etc.

Anything similar for leather? This is one of these rare things where I'd rather pay a professional, than attempt a repair myself using a DIY product.

All advice gratefully welcomed!

Best,

Alan

Annoying and expensive, but am not aware of any co's that repair leather seats.

Visit your friendly local Ford dealer - they should be able to sell you a seatcover that you can fit yourself. It might be worth getting them to fit it if you have an airbag in the seat, as removing the seat will require the removal of the a/bag wiring loom, and unless you remove your battery and short out the entire car's electrics (Possibly dodgy) to remove any static, you run the risk of upsetting the a/bag ECU when you reconnect it, something the Ford dealer can reset.

Arturo Ui ( snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

I've seen vans advertising trim repair - including leather - in a very similar way to the chip/dent repair franchises - and I think they often do interior trim repairs, too.

Can't for the life of me recall any names, though.

Do a Goggle on leather repair. This one came up near the top.

You should try to be less easily annoyed. If you cannot do this then you should purchase a replacement seat from a scrap car, since even the best repair will be visible to someone who knows it is there.

I'd say most scrappies would want to sell the whole set of seats. It should be possible to have the damaged panel replaced invisibly.

Ok, I'll have a look and maybe give 'em a try. Many thanks for the lead.
