Yesterday, the airbaglight on the dash came on. It now stays on as I drive. Tommorow I go to France and will drive 950 km, can this be a problem? All the Opeldealers are closed overhere, vacation.
Anybody got an idea why the light suddenly came on? It happend after a run of about 1 hour...

Usually a broken wire under the seat for the seatbelt pretensioners.
And is it a problem to drive this way?

Or probably not. Either way check th econnecters under the seat, unplug & replug them ^ it'll probably go away.
Unlikely. On most cars the light will stay on until reset by the dealer, even if the fault is fixed.
However I've been driving my Merc for close on 4 months like that, and the previous owner had done for a while too. No, it's not a problem. And, as I understand it, not even an MOT fail.
