Hi all,
I need a rear body panel for my Mk2 Golf. VW want £115. ECP want £41 for a "pattern" part. Ditto door skin, VW £121, ECP £35.
Anyone got any experience with this scenario? The labour and paint is going to be £500 for this and other bits, so I don't want to ruin it with a crappy part.

Normally quite good though maybe a little more work for a correct fit with non-genuine parts.
We replaced the complete front end of a MK2 GTi with panels from ECP's after wiping out a deer.

Shoved it in his boot and took it home and butchered it. Then had to share it all round the neighbours' freezers in order to find enough space.
A good door from a scrappy is £40 or so, for the more desirable 88 on model with no quarterlight, and that's the route I'd go down. A rear panel is something I wouldn't be very interested in replacing on a MK2, unless the rest of the body's very good. Easier to reshell into a solid car. The only GSF panels I've had have been a front panel. The front panel was OK. The accompanying plastics were rubbish. Is it rust or crash damage?
